Initiative for Students

Initiative for Students (INS) is an educational, voluntary, and non-political organization established on October 24, 2023. Its primary goal is to support talented but financially disadvantaged students through Qarz-e-Hasana (interest-free loans), scholarships, educational materials, and guidance.

INS envisions a Bangladesh where no student has to stop their academic journey because of financial hardship or lack of guidance — a Bangladesh where merit, rather than financial means, determines a student’s future.

Qarz-e-Hasana is the founding and primary initiative of INS. It provides interest-free loans to students facing temporary financial difficulties with semester fees, hostel or mess dues, daily expenses, or educational materials.

Students studying at universities and medical colleges who are experiencing temporary financial difficulties, such as delays in receiving tuition support, scholarships, or family assistance, may apply.

It is generally provided for up to three months. In cases of longer-term need, the repayment period may be extended after considering the applicant’s individual circumstances.

Applicants must complete and submit the designated application form on the website. The INS team then verifies the information, approves eligible applicants, and distributes the funds through the designated process. Repaid funds are then made available to other students in need.

From February 2024 to February 2026, more than 160 students from various universities and medical colleges have benefited from Qarz-e-Hasana.

Talented but financially disadvantaged students at school, college, madrasa, university, or medical level may apply for merit-based scholarships or one-time study grants — especially those who struggle to arrange examination, registration, or admission fees.

Currently, INS primarily provides merit-based scholarships and one-time study grants. Work is underway to introduce long-term scholarships lasting two to four years at the university and medical levels.

INS conducts structured campaigns at schools, colleges, and madrasas, covering topics such as admission strategies, career planning, and personal development.

Mentors are experienced students currently studying at public universities and medical colleges who provide direct guidance to admission candidates through INS Guideline Groups.

Admission mentorship was successfully conducted through INS Guideline Groups for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 sessions, and the program for the 2026–27 session is currently ongoing.

Victory Grammar — published for SSC/Dakhil and HSC/Alim students for 2025–26. INS Question Bank — a university admission-focused guide scheduled for publication in June 2026. Bengali, English, and General Knowledge series are also currently in preparation.

Profits generated from published books are used exclusively for students and the future activities of INS — including reprinting books and supporting authors in developing new publications.

Yes. Students experiencing financial hardship may receive books at a reduced price or free of charge, and talented students identified through INS campaigns may also receive books as recognition.

It is a structured, routine-based academic guidance program built around skilled teachers and experienced mentors, which will operate through both offline and online formats.

Priority will be given to disadvantaged students who are genuinely committed to pursuing higher education and fulfilling their dream of studying at a university.

The categories include General Member (৳1,000), Associate Member (৳500), Founding Member, Lifetime Member (৳5,000), General Donor Member (৳10,000), Silver Donor (৳50,000–100,000), Golden Donor (৳100,000–300,000), Diamond Donor (৳300,000+), Overseas Donor Member ($200), and General Participant (any amount). A minimum contribution of ৳500 is required for Associate Membership. As a General Participant, you may contribute any amount.

Yes. Bangladeshi expatriates and international supporters can join the Overseas Donor Member category by contributing US$200.

Yes. Institutions and organizations can partner with INS as strategic partners through funding, resources, or institutional support.

General and Associate Members must be students, complete the designated form, and have an interest in participating in educational activities. Membership is open to eligible individuals from Bangladesh and abroad according to the applicable rules.

Funds are raised through donations from individuals who support the organization’s mission and temporary contributions from education-minded supporters for specific initiatives.

The primary portion of the funds is used for Qarz-e-Hasana. Funds are also used for scholarships, publications, campaigns, coaching, and maintaining administrative transparency.

As soon as a student repays a loan, the funds are made available to another student in need. This allows each contribution to continue creating long-term impact even after helping the initial beneficiary.

Yes. INS maintains financial transparency. All transactions are recorded and shared through a public financial report, and donors can directly review these records.
